BOARD OF EDUCATION APPROVES PLAN TO LEAVE SCHOOL MEAL PRICES UNCHANGED FOR 10TH CONSECUTIVE YEAR

The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County today unanimously approved a plan to leave school meal prices at the same level as they have been for the last nine years in which students have had to pay for meals.

Under the plan approved at the Board’s May 1, 2024, meeting, full-price breakfast at all levels for the 2024-25 school year would remain at $1.50, elementary school lunches would cost $2.75, and secondary school lunches would cost $3.00. The price of milk would remain at 55 cents. Reduced-price breakfast and meal prices at all levels would also remain unchanged.

“The work that our Division of Food and Nutrition does with vendors to maximize the resources available and provide high-quality, nutritious meals to our students is inspiring,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Bedell. “The fact that we have been able to keep prices stable in an economy that has been anything but stable has been and continues to be great news for our families.”

The school system’s Division of Food and Nutrition Services receives the vast majority of its funding, 73 percent, from federal reimbursements. It receives approximately 22 percent of its funding from sales of meals and approximately 4 percent from the State of Maryland.
