Two recent AACPS graduates, Katelyn Bullock of Southern High School and D’naysha Nero of the Center of Applied Technology North, demonstrated remarkable expertise and received gold medals for first and third places, respectively, in the Employment Skills category at the 96th Maryland Future Farmers of America (FFA) State Convention, recently held at the Wisp Resort in McHenry, Maryland.
First place qualifies Bullock to compete at the National Convention in October. Additionally, she earned a State FFA Degree by logging 685 hours of education, completing supervised agricultural experience and unduplicated volunteer hours.
Bullock will also join the Maryland FFA as an officer. She will be the second AACPS student to hold a board position. In 2020, Cassie Bell of Southern High School served as State President.
Other notable Southern High School FFA team achievements include a commendable second place in the Agriculture Knowledge Bowl, with 11th grader Kevin Kayton receiving a gold medal for third place individually. The team also secured a respectable third place in the Horticulture Knowledge Bowl.
FFA is a dynamic student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership.
