STATEMENTS FROM BOARD OF EDUCATION PRESIDENT ROBERT SILKWORTH AND SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS DR. MARK BEDELL ON COUNTY EXECUTIVE STEUART PITTMAN’S FY2025 BUDGET PROPOSAL

Board of Education President Robert Silkworth and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Bedell released the following statements regarding the Fiscal Year 2025 budget proposal presented to the County Council today by County Executive Steuart Pittman:

MR. SILKWORTH

“Our Board will obviously need to dig deeper into the County Executive’s proposal in the coming weeks, but my initial reaction to what I heard today is that Mr. Pittman has done everything he could to commit as many resources as he possibly can to our employees and our students.”

DR. BEDELL

“As I said in my budget address in December, our school system is one piece in a large puzzle when it comes to county funding. From my point of view, the County Executive and his team have once again placed a heavy priority on our school system while still addressing critical needs in other parts of county government. We will continue to partner with his administration and the County Council to do all that we can to help every student Belong, Grow, and Succeed.”
