As approximately 81,000 students settle into classrooms across the county, two local organizations are teaming up with Anne Arundel County Public Schools to fill some musical gaps.
Coldwell Banker and the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra are sponsoring “Play It Forward,” a drive to collect used musical instruments that can be used by AACPS students who are not otherwise able to afford them. Instruments can be in any condition, and will be examined by AACPS employees and repaired as necessary before being passed on to students.
“This is an outstanding partnership that will help more of our students – especially those who can’t afford an instrument of their own – to experience the pleasure and opportunities that music brings,” said AACPS Music Coordinator David Kauffman. “Coldwell Banker and the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra are legendary when it comes to giving back to the community, and we are thrilled at the chance to work with them in this endeavor.”
Instruments can be dropped off at Coldwell Banker’s Annapolis Plaza, Church Circle, Crofton/Odenton, and Severna Park offices during normal business hours. They can also be dropped off at the ASO’s Pops in the Park concert, a free Labor Day Weekend event to be held at Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis. The concert begins at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 4.
