The Board of Education will hold a public workshop on Interim Superintendent Mamie J. Perkins’ Fiscal Year 2015 capital budget at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, following the regularly scheduled meeting of the Board. The workshop will be held in the Board Room of the Parham Building, located at 2644 Riva Road in Annapolis.
The date of the workshop has been changed from its originally scheduled date of September 17 to allow the Board to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Phoenix Academy. That event is being held in conjunction with Phoenix Academy’s Back To School Night.
The Board will take a formal vote on moving the date of the workshop at the beginning of its regularly scheduled September 11 meeting.
The capital budget establishes funding priorities for construction projects at schools across the county. After adoption by the Board, the plan will be submitted to the State of Maryland for funding consideration. The plan will also be part of the school system’s overall FY2015 budget request, to be forwarded to the County Executive in February 2014 after the Board holds public hearings.
The budget workshop is open to the public, but no testimony will be taken.
