Board of Education President Dr. Joanna Tobin and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Bedell released the following statements regarding the Fiscal Year 2024 budget adoption by the County Council:
DR. TOBIN
“This budget is clear evidence of the value not just of partnerships, but of conversation and collaborative work toward a common goal. The County Council clearly understands the issues that need to be confronted to move our school system forward and we are appreciative of the work they have done.”
DR. BEDELL
“This budget addresses the single most important issue facing our school system today: compensation gaps that hinder our recruitment and retention of our amazing teachers, administrators, support staff, and other employees. We need more great people to make our school system great. The County Executive and County Council have helped us immensely in that regard in this budget.”
