AACPS EARNS NATIONAL AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN FINANCIAL REPORTING FOR 39TH CONSECUTIVE YEAR

Anne Arundel County Public Schools’ Financial Operations Office has earned the Government Finance Officers Association’s Award of Excellence for the 39th consecutive year.

The award is given for the school system’s Certified Annual Financial Report for Fiscal Year 2021, which “has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive ‘spirit of full disclosure’ to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate  potential users and user groups to read the report,” the association wrote in its announcement of the award.

“Sound stewardship of the funds allocated to our school system is one of the driving values of our Strategic Plan and I could not be more proud of the awesome professionals who carry out this work every day,” Superintendent George Arlotto said. “Our Financial Operations team is second to none. This award is assurance for everyone who interacts with our school system that we operate prudently and efficiently every day.”

The award represents the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.
