SIX SCHOOLS THAT HAD BEEN SCHEDULED TO OPEN SCHOOL YEAR ONE DAY LATE WILL NOW OPEN ON TIME

Six schools that had received a waiver from the Maryland State Department of Education to open the 2020-2021 school year a day later than other schools will now open on time.

Crofton High School, Corkran Middle School, and Edgewater, George Cromwell, Richard Henry Lee, and Tyler Heights elementary schools were all slated to open on September 9, 2020, to accommodate moves due to construction projects.  The onset of virtual learning for the first semester has negated that need.

Superintendent George Arlotto has informed Maryland State Superintendent of Schools Dr. Karen Salmon that the waivers are no longer necessary.

The 2020-2021 school year begins virtually for all students on Tuesday, September 8.
