MEADE HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM FORFEITS PLAYOFF WIN DUE TO INELIGIBLE PLAYER

Meade High School’s girls basketball team must forfeit its playoff win over Old Mill High School in Monday night’s Class 4A East Region I semifinal because the Mustangs used an ineligible player.

Anne Arundel County Public Schools imposed the penalty after investigating the matter, which the school reported to the AACPS Office of Athletics earlier today. AACPS is not identifying the player or the reason for ineligibility. The ineligible player is also, by state law, now ineligible to participate in athletics for a period of 60 days.

The decision puts Old Mill back into the Class 4A playoffs. The Patriots will play top-seeded Howard tomorrow.
