ANOTHER AACPS STUDENT EARNS NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP

Alexandra Bartlett of South River High School is the most recent county senior to be added to the growing list of National Merit Scholars, announced today by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.  Bartlett was chosen from a talented group of 15,000 students from across the country and among 57 from the state of Maryland.  She will receive a single-payment scholarship worth $2,500 to pursue her post-secondary studies in biomedical engineering.

Students earn the honor based on their excellent academic records, standardized test performances, school and community leadership, essay submissions, and high school recommendations.

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation will announce another 4,500 scholarship winners later this spring and this summer.  In all, more than $35 million will be awarded to nearly 8,000 outstanding high school seniors in this year’s competition.
