The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County will receive a briefing on the educational impact of County Executive Laura Neuman’s proposed Fiscal Year 2014 budget at its next meeting, scheduled for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, in the Board Room at the Parham Building, 2644 Riva Road, Annapolis.
County Executive Neuman is scheduled to present her budget proposal to the County Council at 11 a.m. on May 1. The Board of Education will be updated on funding for the school system contained in the budget proposal at the start of the afternoon session of its meeting.
Also at the meeting, the Board will discuss and consider approval of 14 new courses. Six Performing and Visual Arts courses, four English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses, three BioMedical Allied Health courses, and a STEM course will be discussed.
The Board will meet at 8:30 a.m. to vote to go into closed session, during which time it will discuss confidential matters as permitted by the Maryland Open Meetings Act including, but not limited to, legal advice, personnel, and negotiations. Closed session is not open to the public. The general session of the meeting, which is open to the public, will begin at 10 a.m.

The general session of Wednesday’s Board meeting will be broadcast live on AACPS-TV, which can be found on Channel 96 on Comcast and Broadstripe, and Channel 36 on Verizon. Rebroadcasts are scheduled for 6 p.m. the day after the meeting and 2 p.m. on subsequent Sundays.
