The School Board Appointment Commission of Anne Arundel County will vote to appoint the next member of the Board of Education of Anne Arundel County at its next meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, November 19, 2018. The meeting will take place in the Board Room of the Dr. Carol Sheffey Parham Building, located at 2644 Riva Road in Annapolis.
The Board will choose from among nine candidates, with the appointee filling the District 30 seat vacated earlier this year by Maria Delores Sasso. The appointee will be sworn in along with the four recently elected members of the Board at 9 a.m. on Monday, December 3, 2018, at the county courthouse in Annapolis.
The 13-member commission is charged with appointing individuals to fill vacancies on the Board of Education as the Board transitions from an entirely appointed Board to one that is entirely elected.
Commission meetings are open to the public and televised live on AACPS-TV, which can be found on Channel 96 on Comcast and Broadstripe, and Channel 36 on Verizon. High definition broadcasts can be seen on Channel 996 on Comcast, Channel 496 on Broadstripe, and 1961 on Verizon. Meetings are also broadcast live on the internet here.
