FOUR AACPS SCHOOLS RATED AMONG TOP 30 HIGH SCHOOLS IN MARYLAND

Severna Park High School heads a list of four Anne Arundel County Public Schools high schools on the list of the top 30 Maryland high schools, according to U.S. News and World Report. As the eighth- rated school in the state, Severna Park High School is one of only two schools outside of Montgomery County rated in the Top 10.

The rankings are based on reports conducted by the magazine that measured:

  • student/teacher ratios;
  • how seniors performed on their Advanced Placement (AP) tests; and
  • how they performed in the subjects of math and reading on state exit exams.

“I am very proud of our students and community for their continued commitment to education,” Severna Park High School Principal Patrick Bathras said. “It is an honor to be recognized, and exemplifies how SPHS students make their education a priority.”

Just outside of the Top 10 was Broadneck High School, which landed at No. 11. South River High School came in at No. 15 and Chesapeake High School was 28th.

Winston Churchill High School in Potomac topped the list.
