Twenty-eight Anne Arundel County Public Schools secondary students won their respective categories, 22 more finished second, and 11 others placed third at the recent SkillsUSA Maryland Leadership and Skills Conference. The student winners represent both centers of applied technology and Old Mill and Severna Park high schools.
In addition, three students and a teacher from the Center of Applied Technology North were elected to represent the state at the national conference for voting privileges and as the nominee for Advisor of the Year, respectively.
This year, more than 1,200 students from across the state participated in 59 different competitions focused on leadership skills, occupational-related skills, and trade skills.
Students who placed first in the state competition qualify to participate in the 60th Annual SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference on June 24-28, 2024, in Atlanta, Georgia. This conference showcases the best Career and Technical Education students in the country.
