Four county schools, four students, and 12 Anne Arundel County Public Schools employees have earned honors for Excellence in Gifted and Talented Education (EGATE) from the Maryland State Gifted and Talented Advisory Council.
Among schools, Bodkin Elementary School earned its first EGATE award while Central Elementary, Crofton Elementary, and Folger McKinsey Elementary schools earned renewed status for their outstanding work.
To earn the EGATE designation, schools must submit an application evidencing their alignment with 21 state criteria for gifted and talented programs. Those criteria include student identification, curriculum and instruction, professional development, and program management and evaluation. Members of the Maryland Gifted and Talented Advisory Council and local school system personnel review and score the applications.
