Sixty-five public school and four independent school educators will be honored on Thursday, April 25, 2024, as Anne Arundel County Public Schools and the Education Foundation of AACPS celebrate the 38th Annual Excellence in Education Awards Dinner at The Hall @ Live! Arundel Mills.
The Excellence in Education event will culminate with the announcements of the 2024 Anne Arundel County Public Schools and Independent School Teachers of the Year. The AACPS Teacher of the Year will represent the county in the state Teacher of the Year competition.
In eight of the last nine years, AACPS has had finalists for Maryland Teacher of the Year with Mary Kay Connerton of Annapolis High School earning this year’s title. AACPS has had two additional Maryland Teacher of the Year winners over the last six years: Teresa Beilstein of South Shore Elementary School in 2020 and Josh Carroll of South River High School in 2018.

Semifinalists for the awards will be announced in late December. Finalists will be chosen from that group and announced by early March.
