Anne Arundel County Public Schools’ Financial Operations Office has earned the Government Finance Officers Association of the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 40th consecutive year.
The award, given for the school system’s certified annual financial report for Fiscal Year 2022, demonstrates “a constructive full spirit of disclosure to clearly communicate” key financial information about Maryland’s fourth largest public school system, according to the GFOA.
“I have spoken often over the last year about the incredible teams of employees that make up our school system, and this award highlights the amazing work of one of those teams,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Bedell said. “The fact that we have earned this award not only this year but every year for four decades is evidence of the prolonged and consistent efforts of so many and of the sound financial stewardship we exercise with public funding provided to us.”
The award represents the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.
