Board of Education President Dr. Joanna Tobin and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Bedell released the following statements regarding the Fiscal Year 2024 budget proposal released today by County Executive Steuart Pittman:
DR. TOBIN
“My initial review of the County Executive’s budget proposal is that it is an enormous investment in the futures of our children and our county as a whole. Mr. Pittman’s proposed plan offers our school system opportunities to continue moving toward being great, and I am confident we will maximize this investment.”
DR. BEDELL
“From the day I arrived, Mr. Pittman and his team have pledged to be partners in helping to eradicate deficiencies that are impediments to us becoming a truly great school system. The full funding of our compensation request is a huge step toward eliminating embarrassing pay gaps for our employees, and the allocations to address student achievement and social-emotional wellness in many other areas will help us get where we want to go.”
