In the March Madness of mock trials, the Severna Park High School Mock Trial team has made the Maryland Final Four!
The Anne Arundel Mock Trial league closed out its regular season with thirteen public and private schools vying for top ranking. The top four schools in the county went to compete for two spots in the Circuit 3 playoff versus Howard and Carroll county teams. Severna Park beat Rockbridge Academy and Crofton High school won against North County High School.
Severna Park earned the County Champion title with a record of 6-0 in the regular season and a win in the championship match. Crofton High School ended as the runner-up with a 5-1 regular season record and a win in the county championship match.
Severna Park entered the Circuit 5 Playoff and defeated three teams to earn the status of Circuit Champion! They beat Westminster High School from Carroll County, River Hill High school from Howard County, and in the championship trial, Long Reach High School from Howard County.
Severna Park High School joined the Elite 8 in the state of Maryland, representing the top team from each of the eight judicial circuits in the state. On March 14, Severna Park defeated Fort Hill High School at the Circuit Court for Washington County in Hagerstown, Maryland acting as the prosecution.
The Severna Park High School Mock Trial team will now move into the Final Four in the state of Maryland with competitions on March 24 in Annapolis. Live streaming of the championship matches will be available at https://www.mylaw.org/regionals-final-four-competitions-2023.html.
