For the 11th consecutive year and 13th time overall, the National Procurement Institute has recognized Anne Arundel County Public Schools’ Purchasing Office as one of the best in the United States.
The 2022 Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award once again puts AACPS’ Purchasing Office in elite company. AACPS is one of just three schools systems in Maryland and 15 across the nation to earn the award. In all 171, public agencies earned 2022 awards.
The award recognizes organizations that demonstrate excellence by obtaining a high score based on standardized criteria including innovation, professionalism, productivity, e-procurement, and leadership attributes of the procurement organization.
“The work that our Purchasing Office does day in and day out is critical to our success as a school system and to our ability to build trust with the taxpayers who fund our work,” Chief Operating Officer Alex Szachnowicz said. “This award symbolizes the vast efforts of so many to be sound fiscal stewards of the funds provided to us on behalf of our students. I could not be more proud of their work.”
The award is the second earned in the last three months by the school system’s Division of Financial Operations. In June, AACPS earned the Government Finance Officers Association’s Award of Excellence in financial reporting for the 39th consecutive year.
