BOARD OF EDUCATION APPOINTS 12 NEW MEMBERS TO COUNTYWIDE CITIZEN ADVISORY COMMITTEE; EXTENDS TERMS OF FOUR OTHERS

The Board of Education has appointed 12 county residents to two-year terms and approved one-year extensions of the terms for four others on the Executive Panel of the countywide Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC), a 32-member panel that advises the Board on issues affecting the school system.

The panel consists of:

  • Two members from each high school cluster, one representing elementary schools and one representing secondary schools
  • Two at-large county-wide representatives
  • One at-large member designated by the President of the Anne Arundel County Council of PTAs to represent its interests
  • One at-large member designated by the Special Education Citizen Advisory Committee to represent special education interests across the county
  • One at-large member designated by the Chairperson of the Parent Involvement Advisory Council to represent its interests across the county
  • One military representative

Appointed to two-year terms at the Board’s July 13, 2022, meeting were:

  • Annapolis cluster, elementary representative: Pamela Segal
  • Annapolis cluster, secondary representative: Laticia Hicks
  • Broadneck cluster, elementary representative: James Lazak
  • Crofton cluster, elementary representative: Sarah Weissmann
  • Glen Burnie cluster, elementary representative: Jasmine Hopkins
  • Glen Burnie cluster, secondary representative: Ajorie Stallings
  • North County cluster, secondary representative: Tiffany May Gleason
  • Northeast cluster, secondary representative: Jamie Hurman-Cougnet
  • Severna Park cluster, elementary representative: Sadie Bianco
  • Severna Park cluster, secondary representative: Michelle Koul
  • South River cluster, secondary representative: Candace Turner
  • At-Large Countywide representative: David Gustin

At its June 16, 2022, meeting, the Board approved one-year extensions for the following positions:

  • Arundel cluster, secondary representative: Julie Halick
  • Meade cluster, elementary representative, David E. Sureda
  • South River cluster, elementary representative: John Conwell
  • Southern cluster, secondary representative: Tor Bjerknes,
