The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County tonight approved negotiated agreements with the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, Local 1693 (AFSCME) and the Secretaries and Assistants Association of Anne Arundel County (SAAAAC) that provides experience step increases for eligible employees and cost-of-living increases for all employees of both bargaining units.
The agreement with AFSCME covers Fiscal Year 2023, which begins July 1, 2022. It provides for a step increase for all eligible employees and a 4 percent cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for all bargaining unit employees. It also provides all eligible employees with a makeup step lost in the 2015-2016 school year due to fiscal constraints.
The agreement with SAAAAC contains a step increase for all eligible employees, a 4 percent COLA for all bargaining unit employees, and a makeup step lost in the 2015-2016 school year for eligible employees.
The Board has yet to reach agreements with its other two employee bargaining units: Teachers Association of Anne Arundel County and the Association of Educational leaders. Prior to the start of the new fiscal year, the Board will also approve terms of employment for non-represented employees.
