FAMILIES, EMPLOYEES, COMMUNITIES TO CELEBRATE COMPLETION OF CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS AT FIVE SCHOOLS

The conclusion of nearly $303.5 million in construction projects over the last two years will be the focus of five school celebrations next week as students, families, and community members get to tour completed facilities in four areas of the county.

The county’s newest high school since 1982, Crofton High School, will celebrate a brand-new building, while Edgewater, George T. Cromwell, Richard Henry Lee, and Tyler Heights elementary schools will recognize the completion of revitalization projects. At some schools, brief ribbon-cuttings will be combined with sneak-a-peek or open house events according to the following schedule:

  • Crofton High School, 3 p.m. (ribbon cutting) 4 p.m. (community open house) on Monday, August 30
  • Tyler Heights Elementary School, 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 31
  • George T. Cromwell Elementary School, 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 31
  • Edgewater Elementary School, 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 2
  • Richard Henry Lee Elementary School, 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 2

Superintendent George Arlotto will be joined at the events by Board of Education members and elected officials who represent the areas in which the schools are located. All events will be streamed live at www.aacps.org/youtube.

Reminder: Anyone visiting an AACPS building, regardless of age or vaccination status, are required to wear masks.
