AACPS EARNS GOVERNMENT FINANCE OFFICERS ASSOCIATION EXCELLENCE AWARD FOR 38TH CONSECUTIVE YEAR

Anne Arundel County Public Schools’ Financial Operations Office has earned the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States’ Award of Excellence for the 38th consecutive year.

The award, given for the school system’s certified annual financial report for Fiscal Year 2020, demonstrates “a constructive full spirit of disclosure to clearly communicate” key financial information about Maryland’s fourth largest public school system, according to the GFOA.

“On a daily basis, our Financial Operations team does work that is incredibly important to our school system and to the taxpayers of Anne Arundel County,” Superintendent George Arlotto said. “Everything this team does reassures the public that the resources our school system is provided are expended in ways that are prudent and efficient. Our school system and the citizens of Anne Arundel County are better off because of the work that this incredible team does.”

The award represents the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.
