The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County today embarked on the process of selecting an interim superintendent to guide Anne Arundel County Public Schools for the next school year. The Board met for more than two hours in closed session this morning and released the following statement:
”The Board of Education is working diligently to select an interim superintendent. There are numerous legal and contractual issues that guide this process. When a superintendent resigns prior to the end of his or her contract, state law requires that an interim superintendent be appointed and serve until the following July 1st.”
The Board of Education will hold another closed session meeting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at the Parham Building, located at 2644 Riva Road in Annapolis. Pursuant to Section 10-508(a) (1) of the State Government Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland, the meeting will not be open to the public.
