The Board of Education will meet in a special session at 6 p.m. on January 14, 2021, to discuss and vote on a timeline to reopen schools in a hybrid format. On November 4, 2020, the Board voted to keep learning in a virtual format through the end of the first semester with the intention of transitioning to hybrid learning in the second semester.
The Board has read and listened to comments from hundreds of students, parents, school system employees, and community members over the last month. The Board has also been provided with regular updates from Superintendent George Arlotto and Anne Arundel County Health Officer Dr. Nilesh Kalyanaraman.
At its January 6, 2021, meeting, the Board conducted approximately four hours of discussion on the subject.
The Board will take into account the comments it has received as well as the health metrics and other information established and provided by the Anne Arundel County Department of Health.
The Board will hear live public comment from up to 10 speakers in the early portion of each meeting. Those wishing to provide live testimony may register, space permitting, by clicking here. All speakers will be allotted 2 minutes and those who secure spaces to speak will receive emailed instructions on how to join the meeting.
Written comments on agenda items can be submitted via email to boardoffice@aacps.org or dropped off at the Parham Building, located at 2644 Riva Road in Annapolis, by noon on Wednesday, January 13.

Those who require the services of an interpreter to offer comment to the Board should call 410-222-5311 to make those arrangements after receiving confirmation of an opportunity to speak at the meeting.

LA JUNTA DE EDUCACIÓN TENDRÁ UNA REUNIÓN ESPECIAL SOBRE LA REAPERTURA ESCOLAR EL 14 DE ENERO DE 2021
La Junta de Educación se reunirá en una sesión especial a las 6 p.m. el 14 de enero de 2021, para discutir y votar en una línea de tiempo para reabrir las escuelas en un formato híbrido. El 4 de noviembre de 2020, la Junta votó a favor de seguir aprendiendo en un formato virtual hasta el final del primer semestre con la intención de hacer la transición al aprendizaje híbrido en el segundo semestre.
La Junta ha leído y escuchado comentarios de cientos de estudiantes, padres, empleados del sistema escolar y miembros de la comunidad durante el último mes. La Junta también ha recibido actualizaciones periódicas del Superintendente George Arlotto y del Oficial de Salud del Condado de Anne Arundel, el Dr. Nilesh Kalyanaraman.
