FRIENDS OF HANCOCK’S RESOLUTION, JUG BAY WETLANDS SANCTUARY AND FIRST IN MATH NAMED 2020 AACPS PARTNERS OF THE YEAR

The 21st Century Education Foundation (21st CEF), in conjunction with AACPS, is pleased to announce the winners for this year’s Partner of the Year Awards.  Due to COVID-19 closures, the announcement was made on Twitter on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, after a week-long social media celebration recognizing all 19 of this year’s nominees.

AACPS is committed to preparing students for college, career, and community by providing experiences inside the classroom and beyond the classroom walls.  The school system depends on community and business partners to ensure that students have opportunities to explore their personal interests, engage in unique learning experiences, and interact with professionals from a variety of career fields.

This year, winners were selected in three categories: Service & Small Non-Profit Organizations; Businesses with under 50 employees; Businesses with 50 or more employees.

Friends of Hancock’s Resolution (FOHR), nominated by Chesapeake High School, was selected as the Service & Small Non-Profit Organization Partner of the Year. First in Math, Suntex International Inc., nominated by the AACPS Elementary Mathematics Office, won Business Partner of the Year in the Under 50 Employees category. Anne Arundel County Parks & Recreation: Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary nominated by Arlington Echo/Office of Environmental Literacy, was named the Business Partner of the Year in the “Over 50 Employees” category.

President of the 21st Century Education Foundation Board of Directors Ray Streib expressed his appreciation to M & T Bank for its sponsorship of the Partners in Education program this year, and said, “The Foundation is pleased to recognize community organizations and businesses that have forged critical partnerships with the school system to provide benefits to the students of our county.”
