Students entering first through fifth grades next fall who want to sharpen their Spanish skills can do so at el Campo del Bosque, a Spanish immersion camp at the Arlington Echo Outdoor Education Center in Millersville that will run from August 5 through 8.
After presenting their pasaportes, which are stamped at the entrada by officials at inmigracíon, students will enter a world where they will be immersed in Hispanic culture and speak the Spanish language. Through activities such as word games, skits, music, art, and outdoor exercises, the campers will gain an introduction or enhance their existing speaking skills while learning about the cultures in which Spanish is spoken.
Camp coordinators will lead a staff of native and non-native Spanish-speaking county teachers who will provide a non-intimidating yet challenging Spanish-only environment.
Other camp activities include seining, crabbing, sail decorating, swimming, and canoeing.
The camp runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.
