BOARD OF EDUCATION ADDS DISCUSSION OF SECOND-SEMESTER GRADING TO APRIL 15, 2020, AGENDA

The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County has added an item to its April 15, 2020, meeting agenda and will hear from Superintendent George Arlotto and members of his staff about changes in second-semester grading protocols brought on by the ongoing closure of schools in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

Dr. Arlotto has been reviewing options to modify Administrative Regulation II-RA, Grading, to take into account lost instructional time, the current online learning program, and the flexibility needed to help ensure equity for students given varying levels of digital access.

Also at Wednesday’s meeting, Dr. Arlotto will discuss with the Board his plan to modify Administrative Regulation IIC-RA, Graduation Requirements, to reflect the impact the pandemic has had on the ability of members of the Class of 2020 to satisfy graduation requirements.

The Board will meet in a public session at 5:30 p.m. for the sole purpose of voting to immediately go into closed session, during which time it will discuss confidential matters as permitted by the Maryland Open Meetings Act including, but not limited to, legal advice, personnel, and negotiations. Closed session is not open to the public. The public session of the meeting will resume at 7 p.m.
