The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County tonight unanimously approved a one-year agreement with the Teachers Association of Anne Arundel County (TAAAC) that includes a salary increase for all bargaining unit employees and a mid-year step increase for eligible employees.
The compensation portion of the agreement, which expires on June 30, 2019, was approved by TAAAC members on September 12. TAAAC represents teachers, school counselors, and other similar employees.
The Fiscal Year 2019 budget approved by the County Council contained funding for a step increase for eligible employees at the outset of the fiscal year and another mid-year. The agreement approved tonight converts the initial step increase to a 2.1941 percent cost-of-living adjustment to be received by all employees represented by TAAAC.
The Board now has ratified agreements with three of its four employee bargaining units. Negotiations with the Secretaries and Assistants Association of Anne Arundel County are at an impasse.
