ARUNDEL HIGH SCHOOL JUNIOR CHRISTIAN HODGES APPOINTED AS STUDENT MEMBER ON STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION

Arundel High School junior Christian Hodges has been selected to be the 2013-2014 student member of the Maryland State Board of Education.

Gov. Martin O’Malley appointed Hodges over Benjamin Feshbach of Thomas S. Wootton High School in Montgomery County. Hodges, 17, will begin his term in July.

“I am ecstatic to have been selected for this distinguished opportunity, and I am looking forward to representing my fellow students,” Hodges said. “Even though the extensive appointment process is wrapping up, this is only the beginning for me. I cannot wait to represent Arundel High School, Anne Arundel County, and the town of Odenton at this level. I could not have done this without the support of my school and AACPS at every step of the way.”

The student member on the State Board of Education serves a one-year term during his or her senior year of high school, and has limited voting rights. This is the 20th anniversary of the inception of the student member on the Maryland Board of Education.
