With four AACPS schools currently designated as AACPS Wellness Schools of Distinction, the AACPS Wellness Committee proudly announces that the 2013 application (see below) is now ready for completion.
The AACPS Wellness Schools of Distinction Award recognizes schools that demonstrate a high priority for the health and well-being of students, staff, and school supporters by going beyond the curriculum to produce positive outcomes for the entire school community.
Winning the prestigious honor requires that schools demonstrate a strong effort in addressing each of the eight components of a coordinated school health program as outlined by the Centers for Disease Control: health education; physical activity; allied health personnel partnerships; nutrition; mental wellness; school environment; staff health; and family/community involvement.
Parents and community members are highly encouraged to be involved in the application process. While a copy of the application can be reviewed below, final submissions must be made online by a school employee with approval by the principal. Only online applications will be accepted.
