The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County is scheduled to review and vote on the school system’s new Strategic Plan, a document that will guide Anne Arundel County Public Schools for the next five years, at its next meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, February 7, 2018. The meeting will be held in the Board Room at the Parham Building, located at 2644 Riva Road in Annapolis.
The plan was presented to the Board on November 15 and last reviewed by the Board on December 6. Public comment was accepted in November and is being accepted on the current version through noon on Monday, February 5. Feedback received has been used to make revisions to the plan the Board will consider.
At the meeting, the Board will also hear a presentation on the efforts of Start The Adventure In Reading, Inc. (STAIR), a non-profit group that tutors county elementary school students to help improve their reading skills.
The Board will also receive an update on Anne Arundel County Public Schools’ continued efforts to recruit and retain a quality, diverse workforce.
The Board will meet at 8:30 a.m. to vote to go into executive session, during which time it will discuss confidential matters as permitted by the Maryland Open Meetings Act including, but not limited to, legal advice, personnel, and negotiations. Executive session is not open to the public. The public session of the meeting, which is open to the public, starts at 10 a.m.

The general session of Wednesday’s Board meeting will be broadcast live on AACPS-TV, which can be found on Channel 96 on Comcast and Broadstripe, and Channel 36 on Verizon. High definition broadcasts can be seen on Channel 996 on Comcast, Channel 496 on Broadstripe, and Channel 1961 on Verizon. Rebroadcasts are scheduled for 7:00 p.m. the day after the meeting and 2:00 p.m. on subsequent Sundays.
