The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County today approved a plan to leave school meal prices unchanged for the 2017-2018 school year, marking the fourth consecutive year that students will pay the same prices for meals.
Under the plan approved by the Board, full-price breakfast at all levels will cost $1.50, elementary school lunches will cost $2.75, and secondary school lunches will cost $3.00. The price of milk will remain at 55 cents.
Reduced-price breakfast and meal prices at all levels will remain unchanged.
Anne Arundel County Public Schools meal prices have not changed since the 2014-2015 school year.
The school system’s Division of Food and Nutrition Services receives no county funding, and instead relies on revenue from federal reimbursements (58 percent), food sales (38 percent), and state funding (4 percent) to operate.
During this school year, the Division of Food and Nutrition Services will serve more than 5.5 million lunches, 3.8 million breakfasts, 195,000 dinner meals, and 90,000 summer meals.
AACPS sponsors free breakfast programs (Maryland Meals for Achievement, Breakfast with Class, and Second Chance Breakfast) at 60 schools and Child and Adult Care Food Programs at 46 locations. Last year, summer meals were served at 48 locations.
