Thousands of county students from all grade levels will vie for $10,000 worth of technology for their schools as part of the statewide and worldwide Hour of Code challenge to promote computer programming this week during Computer Science Education Week (December 7-11).
From self-guided programming tutorials to using Chromebooks and Code Studio curricula and various programming language software, educators at 61 county schools and programs (nearly double the number of AACPS participants last year) have developed creative plans to expose their students to the computer coding experience and careers in computer science.
Through DonorsChoose.org funding credits, the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) will award $10,000 in technology to a public school that ensures every student has at least one hour of computer coding experience this week.
