Connor Meyers and Claire Witting of Severna Park High School are the latest students to be added to the impressive list of National Merit Scholars, announced recently by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Meyers and Witting were chosen as part of a talented group of 1,700 students from across the country, 34 from Maryland, who will receive between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the awarding college or university. Both will continue their studies in the University of Maryland system.
Students earn the honor based on their excellent academic records, standardized test performances, school and community leadership, essay submissions, and high school recommendations.
This was the final announcement of this year’s scholars by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. In all, more than $35 million has been awarded to about 7,600 outstanding high school seniors in this year’s competition.
