EIGHT COUNTY SCHOOLS TO CLOSE ONE DAY EARLY BECAUSE OF CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

State Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lillian Lowery has approved Anne Arundel County Public Schools’ request to allow eight schools to end the school year one day early for students in order to prepare for summer construction projects.

The one-day waiver means that the school year for students at the following schools will end on Wednesday, June 17, 2015:

  • Crofton Elementary School
  • Lothian Elementary School
  • Mills-Parole Elementary School
  • Magothy River Middle School
  • Southern Middle School
  • Glen Burnie High School
  • Albert Adams Academy
  • Mary Moss Academy

The 2014-2015 school year for students at all other schools is scheduled to end on Thursday, June 18, 2015.

Teachers and staff at the eight schools that are closing early will use the additional day for packing up materials in order to facilitate construction or moves. Those eight schools will also open the 2015-2016 school year on August 25, 2015, one day later than other schools.
