The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County tonight approved a 15-cent increase in school breakfast and lunch prices, the first such increase since the 2011-2012 school year.
Under the plan approved by the Board, full-price breakfast at all levels will cost $1.50, elementary school lunches will cost $2.75, and secondary school lunches will cost $3.00. The price of milk will remain at 55 cents. The new price structure will be in effect when students return to class in August.
Reduced-price breakfast and meal prices at all levels will remain unchanged.
The school system’s Division of Food and Nutrition Services receives no county funding, and instead relies on revenue from federal reimbursements (51 percent), food sales (46 percent), and state funding (3 percent) to operate.
During this school year, the Division of Food and Nutrition Services will serve more than 2.7 million breakfasts and 5 million lunches.
