For the fifth consecutive year, Anne Arundel County Public Schools is hosting nearly 40 educators from across the nation for its Teacher Diversity Recruitment Weekend. The four-day event, which begins on Wednesday, May 14, has two distinct purposes:
- It helps the school system build a talent pool of teachers who can help address its increasingly diverse student body.
- It gives candidates a chance to gain a better understanding of life in the county as they consider positions with AACPS.
“This event has become a true asset to our recruitment efforts,” AACPS Human Resources Executive Director Florie Bozzella said. “Every year we have been able to address the critical needs of our students through this exciting program.”
Last year, 36 candidates took part in the Diversity Recruitment Weekend and more than half accepted positions with AACPS.
The event includes schools visits, local attraction activities, and a job fair where schools can conduct on-site interviews.
