CHESAPEAKE HIGH SCHOOL JUNIOR ELECTED PRESIDENT OF MARYLAND ASSOCIATION OF STUDENT COUNCILS

Chesapeake High School junior Kara Ritterpusch was elected president of the Maryland Association of Student Councils (MASC) when student representatives from across the state gathered in Ocean City last week for their annual convention.

She is one of the state’s most active student representatives after serving as the Chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils (CRASC) president and being a member of the AACPS Superintendent Search Committee, the Maryland General Assembly Page Program, and the Chesapeake Bay Student Leadership Committee. She is also a Peabody Preparatory violinist, in addition to being an honor student.

“Kara’s leadership style is one of collaboration, composure, poise, and credibility,” CRASC Advisor Aimee Poisson said. “She is an asset to this community and will continue to display good character and prudence as she moves on to serve in this new capacity.”

Kara will be sworn in at the next MASC meeting at Leonardtown High School in St. Mary’s County on May 13, 2014. Her term will last for one year.
