The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County will consider approval of seven contracts related to the construction of Severna Park High School worth nearly $16 million at its next meeting, scheduled for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2014. The meeting will be held in the Board Room at the Parham Building, located at 2644 Riva Road in Annapolis.
If approved, the contracts would bring the total awarded to date for the replacement building to more than $91 million. The Board approved more than $63 million in contracts at its last meeting and nearly $12 million at its March 5 meeting. Construction is scheduled to begin in the next few months pending funding from the County and State.
At Wednesday’s meeting, the Board is also scheduled to revisit, as required by a recent State Board of Education decision, its 2012 redistricting plan involving students at Central and Mayo elementary schools. The Board will vote on whether to take the almost identical plan to another public hearing later in April. It must ultimately reaffirm its plan or adopt a new plan.
The Board will meet at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday to vote to go into closed session, during which time it will discuss confidential matters as permitted by the Maryland Open Meetings Act including, but not limited to, legal advice, personnel, and negotiations. Closed session is not open to the public. The general session of the meeting, which is open to the public, will begin at 10 a.m.
