FAMILIES, EDUCATORS TO RECEIVE TIPS FOR SUPPORTING STUDENT READINESS, ACHIEVEMENT AT FAMILY INVOLVEMENT CONFERENCE

Parents and educators looking for information and resources to support student readiness and enhance student achievement can find them at the Family Involvement Conference on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Old Mill High School.

The conference is sponsored by Anne Arundel County Public Schools’ Office of School and Family Partnerships, in collaboration with the Early Childhood Coalition of Anne Arundel County and the Military Family School Support Initiative. It will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Old Mill High School, located at 600 Patriot Lane in Millersville.

The theme of this spring’s conference is “Passport to Success.” Interim Superintendent Mamie J. Perkins will join participants for breakfast, and Shauna King will deliver the keynote address titled “Jack’s Brain, Jill’s Brain.”

Participants will be able to choose two one-hour workshops from a list of 12. Sample topics include: “Finding the Magic in Behavior Management”; “College and Career Workshop”; “Read To Me, Tuck Me In”; “Time Management and Organization”; “Kids Serve, Too!”; and “Resources for Families with Children with Special Needs.”
