High school juniors in good academic standing can get more information on becoming the 2014-2015 student member on the Board of Education of Anne Arundel County during an Information Night scheduled for Wednesday, February 5, 2014.
Anne Arundel County’s student member on the Board of Education is the only one in the nation on a local board who has full voting rights. The nomination process for the 2014-2015 seat opens on February 6, 2014, and ends at 5:00 p.m. on February 18, 2014. A candidate will be elected by the Chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils on April 1, 2014. That candidate’s name will be forwarded to Governor Martin O’Malley, who must make the appointment.
The February 5 meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Board Room at the Parham Building, located at 2644 Riva Road in Annapolis.
