The Board of Education has formally approved the 2014-2015 school year calendar, which calls for students to start classes on August 25, 2014, and end the school year on June 17, 2015.
The calendar once again contains four days built in for emergency weather-related closings. As has been the case in previous years, those days will be subtracted from the calendar if they are not used. Should weather conditions require more than four days of school closings, makeup days will be added to the end of the year.
The calendar also recognizes legal holidays, maintains the weeklong Easter/Spring break, and includes four additional early dismissal days for students to allow for focused staff professional development.
For the third consecutive year, the Board also examined and tentatively approved an advance calendar (this year for the 2015-2016 school year), allowing parents to begin to plan spring and summer vacations and set other appointments a full year in advance. The Board will give final approval to the 2015-2016 calendar during the next school year.
Both calendars, as well as the current school year calendar, can be found online at www.aacps.org/aacps/boe/schol/calendar.asp.
