L. Jean Thompson-Jackson
I am an AACPS: Teacher (IDT Lead) | Old Mill Middle School South
Mike Hall is recognized as an essential part of Old Mill Middle School South. His colleagues took time to share a few bits about him:
Mr. Hall is my team member and friend. Mike is an essential part of our team. I’ve been fortunate enough to know Mike for the last 13 years and have worked closely with him for the last 6 years. Mike is one of those teachers you come across once in a great while. He is just great with everyone and always has a smile and a story to tell. His connection with students and staff is somewhat short of amazing. We started as colleagues and later became team members. As IDT leader, I told my principal, I wanted to keep the band together (The Banana Slugs IDT Team), but if there were any changes, just let me have Mike. We have been able to keep the band together now for 3 years and Mike is the glue that holds us together.
– Mrs. L. Jean Jackson, IDT Leader
I’m a newer teacher and from the start, Mr. Hall has been a positive, helpful colleague. Anytime I have had a question about how I should handle a situation, or even just to vent, he has always been there. He has said that he wants to pass down what he learned to the next generation of teachers, and I think that’s something he strives to do every day.
– Mr. Harrison Schatz, IDT member
Mr. Hall has a history at Old Mill Middle School South and his connections among generations of families have given Mr. Hall perspective and have helped to build trust. These types of connections and trust are what students look for in teachers they respect and remember. Mr. Hall is a kind and generous team member. Sometimes those who love history have a knack to be quite the storyteller and Mr. Hall is one of those people. His stories are fun and if there isn’t fun in the story, he will interject a joke to make the story memorable. He helps to make the days of his students and staff members lighter with his stories and connections. Thank you Mr. Hall.
