Briana Gresko is a 2020 AACPS Teacher of the Year Semi-finalist. I am the parent of two of Briana Gresko’s past students, Cassandra Keenan and Erin Keenan. Cassie graduated in 2017, and Erin graduated last year, 2019. Mrs. Gresko was their choral teacher, AP Music Theory teacher, and piano teacher at Southern High School. Both of my daughter’s were interested in music, and Mrs. Gresko encouraged their love of music. She inspired them to audition for All-County, All-State, Solo and Ensemble, and even All-Eastern. She worked with both girls individually many hours after school to help each prepare for upcoming auditions. She was always kind and caring to both girls, and they both saw her as their mentor and coach. She encouraged both girls to go into music fields after high school. Cassie is currently a junior at Shenandoah University for Music Education, and Erin is a freshman at Duquesne University for Music Therapy, Mrs. Gresko’s Alma mater. I will always be grateful to Mrs. Gresko for the time she spent with my girls.
