I am an AACPS: Teacher, Seven Oaks Elementary | Alumni, Annapolis High School, Class of 2011
AACPS and I have had an amazing journey. I moved from Georgia to Maryland when I was 7 years old and began my journey at AACPS as a second grader at Rolling Knolls Elementary. I still remember my teacher: Mrs. Chambers!
I had such amazing, caring, and kind teachers throughout my journey all the way through high school graduation. I graduated from Annapolis High, as a junior, in 2011. My family was moving up north and I did not want to go to high school for just one year in a town I didn’t know. I was honored with the opportunity to graduate a year early, and worked incredibly hard to do so. Without my high school teachers, I probably wouldn’t have been able to accomplish this dream. So many of those amazing teachers rooted for me from the very second they found out I was attempting an early graduation. I still keep in touch with a few of those teachers who helped shape who I am today. In fact, one of them is officiating my upcoming wedding!
Once I graduated college and worked in a school up north for a bit, I met an amazing man and we became engaged. We decided that we would both move back down to Maryland, my home, in the summer of 2018. As I was searching for jobs, I interviewed with multiple counties. I cried tears of joy when I was offered a job as a 5th grade teacher with AACPS for the 2018-2019 school year. My journey with AACPS had picked up where I left off, switching roles from student to teacher. I’m happily continuing my journey, and hope I end up having a strong impact on my students, just as my teachers had on me.
