A community meeting to provide an update on the Monarch Global Academy Public Contract School project will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, at the Maryland City Volunteer Fire Department. Representatives from Anne Arundel County Public Schools and The Children’s Guild, which will operate the school, will be on hand to provide information.
The Board of Education approved a contract on June 6, 2012, with Monarch’s parent organization, The Children’s Guild, to operate the school. The school, scheduled to open in August 2014, will draw students from the attendance areas for Brock Bridge, Maryland City, and Jessup elementary schools.
At the meeting, parents will be presented with information related to the school and have the opportunity to ask questions about its operation.
The fire department is located at 3498 Fort Meade Road in Laurel.
