Congratulations on being selected as a 2022 Teacher of the Year semi-finalist! Please refer to this page for information about what needs to be completed during Round Two of the application process.

1. Online Application

Submit your Round Two application packet using the form below (click here for a printable reference copy of the application). This application includes the following sections:

  1. Nominee Information
  2. Teaching Philosophy
  3. The Teaching Profession
  4. Education Issues & Trends
  5. Community Involvement
  6. Professional Resume
  7. Three Letters of Support (1 page maximum per letter)

Complete applications must be submitted online by 3:00 pm on Tuesday, January 4, 2022. 

NOTE: You will not be able to save your progress before you submit your application. We strongly recommended writing your application in a Word document and then copying the text into this form.

2. Classroom Visits

We will be conducting classroom visits for Round Two of the 2022 Teacher of the Year program.  Each AACPS Teacher of the Year semi-finalist will be observed by a member of the Teacher of the Year Selection Committee for a 20-30 minute lesson.  which will be available as a reference for the members of the selection committee. Then, you will share a link to your video using this Google Form by Thursday, January 21.

How should I record my lesson?

If you are using Google Meet, simply use the record feature.

If you are teaching in-person, you may record your lesson using a cell phone, camera, or any other video recording device. We recommend asking a colleague or student to operate the camera/device during your lesson.

The camera should remain in one place during the lesson (it does not need to move with you). You may want to “test” different positions before recording your lesson to find the best location to set up the camera. With a few practice videos, both you and your students should be more comfortable in front of the camera.

I have my video... now what?

Now that you have recorded your lesson, you will need to upload your video and share a link with the selection committee. If you used Google Meet, please click here to share the link to the recording of your lesson.

If your lesson was conducted in-person and recorded using a cell phone, camera, or other video recording device, we recommend using YouTube.

Upload Your Video to YouTube

  1. Log into your AACPS Educator YouTube account using your AACPS username and password.
  2. Upload your video to YouTube.

  3. Set the permission for your video to “Unlisted.”
    Learn how to change YouTube privacy settings. 

Having Trouble Uploading to YouTube? 

By default, YouTube has set a limit of 15 minutes for videos, but you should be able to verify your account (to prove you are not a robot uploading SPAM) and then upload a longer video. Click here for step-by-step directions. 

Share A Link to Your Video

Once your video has been uploaded, click here to send the link for your video to the selection committee.

How do I share my video with the judges?

Once you have recorded your lesson video using Google Meet (or have uploaded your video recorded using a video recording device to YouTube), click here to share a link to your presentation/video with the review committee. Please upload your video by Thursday, January 21.
