Description: The Air Force Association requests applications for the following:

• AFA Educator Grants — the program supports projects that significantly influence student learning and supports the association’s mission.

• Grants for Civil Air Patrol Units — funding to support Civil Air Patrol units to advance aerospace education and STEM initiatives for
cadets and in outreach initiatives. Grants must be used for aerospace/STEM education-related items/activities such as books, CDs, equipment, or aerospace-oriented field trips, projects, programs, and events for the cadets.

• Grants for JROTC Units — funds to JROTC units to advance aerospace education in the classroom. Funds may be used for any aerospace education-related activity, from purchasing textbooks or videotapes to going on a field trip to an aerospace museum, Air Force base, or another aerospace facility.

Deadline: Educators grants accepted from Sept. 1 through Dec. 15. CAP grant deadlines are June 30 and Dec. 31, and JROTC grant deadlines are Oct. 10 and Feb. 10.

Funds: Educators grants up to $500 awards, CAP up to $250 awards, and JROTC up to $250 awards.

Eligibility: K-12 schools, Civil Air Patrol units, and JROTC units.

The National Society for High School Scholars – Varying Deadlines

10 Grants for High School Educators:

The National Society of High School Scholars provides resources to assist educators in their efforts to educate and encourage students to excel academically.   • NSHSS Educational Conference Registration Grant: These $500 grants may be used during 2019 to help defray costs of educational conference registration, travel, and accommodations. High school teachers and counselors currently employed at a public or private high school are eligible to apply. Deadline for submission is in March.
  • NSHSS Higher Education Degree Grant: The $2,500 awards help with the costs of tuition and course-related expenses for teachers and counselors who are enrolling in university courses in summer, fall, or spring. Applicants must be Claes Nobel Educators of Distinction currently employed in a public or private high school. Deadline is in March.
  • Claes Nobel Educators of the Year: These awards of $1,000 and $5,000 recognize current Claes Nobel Educators of Distinction. Deadline for submission is in April. • NSHSS NACAC Conference Registration Grants: Funding available to enable NACAC members to attend the NACAC Annual Conference in September. The Fender Music Foundation

Description: The purpose of this program is to provide musical instruments and equipment for music instruction programs. Awarded items will be lightly used, blemished, or otherwise imperfect, and will have been collected from manufacturers and retailers. Awarded items may include acoustic guitars, electric guitars, acoustic-electric guitars, bass guitars , and the equipment necessary to play these instruments. In addition, traditional string instruments, woodwind instruments, brass instruments, percussion instruments, keyboards, and voice equipment.

To qualify for the program, participants must be learning how to make music. Participants may be of any age.

Programs needing support must fit into one of the following categories:

  • In-school music classes, in which the students make music
  • After-school music programs that are not run by the school
  • Community music programs that offer music instruction to community members
  • Music therapy programs, in which the participants make the music

Programs must also meet the following requirements:

  • No individual may be denied participation based on musical ability.
  • If participants are charged fees, these fees must be considerably less than the fair market value.
  • The program has been functioning smoothly for at least one year.
  • Each program participant must receive music instruction at lease once a week for at least eight months per year.
  • Applicants must demonstrate that with or without the award, programs will exist for the foreseeable future.
